Roulette Rules and Tips

Roulette is a fairly simple game to play for even those new to gambling. To understand how to play roulette is to learn how to bet on Roulette. It’s all about understanding the properties of risk, and the smart placement of bets.

The entire goal of the game is to guess where the ball spun around on the wheel will land. The roulette wheel is divided into sections, and each section has a number and color assigned to it. Players can make broad bets like whether or not the ball will land on an odd or even number, a certain color, or more specific bets like a specific number; as you can imagine, the more specific the bet, the higher the stakes.

There exist two major categories of bets in the game:

• Roulette Inside Bets – These types of bets are made on the figures that lay in the internal area of the roulette table layout. This is typically a bet for a specific number, so a player can approach the table with six dollars and bet a dollar on six different roulette squares, or six dollars on one. Betting on smaller odds obviously has a higher return.
• Roulette Outside Bets –These bets are alternatives to inside bets. They are less specific than Roulette inside bets. These can be roulette straight-up bets, roulette split bets, roulette street bets, roulette square bets, roulette corner bets, roulette black and red, and many other in-house variants that exist only in certain casinos.

Here are just a few examples of some other outside bets:

Roulette Black or Red: A player can bet that the ball will land on red numbers or black numbers. This is a very common bet, as it is simple for novices to comprehend.

Roulette Dozens: This divides the wheel in half. A player bets on whether or not the ball will land on the first 12 square or the second 12 squares.

Roulette Corner Bet: This allows players to pick a number and bet on ‘corners’. Corners on the board are any four numbers that form four adjoining numbers on the wheel.
